Warrior FC emerge champions in 1st Nongalbibra U-12 Cup

BAGHMARA, Feb 11: The first ever day-night U -12 football tournament held at the Nongalbibra MeECL playground concluded yesterday, Jan 10 with Warrior FC being crowned the champions in a pulsating final beating their opponents, Jr Nissan FC by 3-1.
The event was organized by Darang Badri Sports Association in collaboration with the district administration and the office of the District Sports Office. The DSO, Mongrea M Marak was the chief guest for the final.
In the final, the first goal was scored by Jr Nissan FC’s Gollabath Sangma with Warrior FC equalizing just a minute later through Chenam Sangma. The first half ended 1-1.
The second half saw both teams trying to score and even getting close on multiple occasions.
However , the player of the tournament, Turkeybirth Sangma and Awean Sangma put the match out of the reach of their opponents netting one each in the second half.
Turkeybirth scored 8 goals and was adjudged the best player while the Golden Boot went to Chusrang Sangma (Darrang FC) with 9 goals. The golden glove went to Lipbath Marak of Jr Nissan FC.
