SHILLONG, Feb 12: Forty-eight new recruits from Meghalaya were among a lakh from across the country absorbed into various public sector departments, who received their appointment letters at a Rozgar Mela organised here on Monday.
Among the 48 appointees, one was designated as the Registrar of the North Eastern Hill University, while others secured positions in institutions like the North Eastern Police Academy, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, NEEPCO, NEIGRIHMS, and the Department of Posts.
Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar, on behalf of the Prime Minister, presented the appointment letters. He highlighted the significance of the Rozgar Mela as a substantial addition to the central government’s initiatives. Sarkar emphasised that the mission-mode recruitment drive aims to fill 10 lakh jobs and stimulate additional employment opportunities in both private and public sectors.
Sarkar also mentioned the government’s commitment to empower workers to become self-sufficient ‘Karmayogi,’ and not just be limited to be a serviceman. He also emphasised the focus on timely promotions for officers in government organisations. He pointed out that promotions are now being expedited across all departments, potentially creating more entry-level vacancies.
