TURA, Feb 15: Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) have decided to cease work from Monday in protest against the failure of the council to clear their pending dues.
The decision to stage the protest comes following a general meeting held by the Non Gazetted Employees’ Association (NGEA) on Thursday.
“We have decided to cease work from Monday to demand the release of our salaries. Due to the non release of our salaries, we are unable to pay our children’s admission fees and hence we are compelled to agitate,” NGEA president Brithen Sangma said after the meeting.
However, Sangma said that the association would be willing to reconsider its decision if there is any positive response from the council.
