Nongkesh United defeat Masonic CC in first division

Shillong, Feb 16: In the pulsating action of the Shillong Cricket League’s various divisions, thrilling finals unfolded, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of local cricketing enthusiasts.
In the 1st Division match between Nongkseh United and Masonic CC, Masonic CC won the toss and elected to field first.
Nongkseh United managed to score 213/10 in 39.4 overs, with standout performances from Iateilang Shangpliang (63 runs in 60 balls) and Bona Myrthong (40 runs in 65 balls).
Masonic CC, in response, could only muster 156/10 in 33.3 overs, with notable contributions from Bharat Rana (51 runs off 56 balls).
However, it was Nongkseh United’s bowlers, including Bushbashisha Tohtih and Richmond Nongdhar, who shone, securing victory by 57 runs.
In the 3rd Division Finals clash between Lawsohtun CC and Metallica Rising Stars, Lawsohtun CC, having won the toss, chose to field first.
Metallica Rising Stars posted 102/10 in 15.1 overs, powered by Nabindu Das’s impressive 64 runs off 39 balls.
However, Lawsohtun CC chased down the target comfortably, reaching 107/4 in 13.4 overs, with Changtre I Man Lamare leading the charge with 52 runs off 24 balls. Hilar Thabah’s stellar bowling performance earned him the Player of the Match award as Lawsohtun CC emerged victorious by 6 wickets.
Moving to the 2nd Division Finals featuring Metallica CC and Golflink 11 Stars, Golflink 11 Stars won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 121/9 in 20 overs, with notable contributions from Ankit Singh Rathor (36 runs off 20 balls). In response, Metallica CC fell short, managing only 109/10 in 20 overs, despite efforts from Rajiv Thakuri and Ashish Gurung.
Golflink 11 Stars emerged triumphant by 12 runs, with Asif’s superb bowling performance earning him the Player of the Match accolade.
The tournaments saw outstanding performances from players like Greatestful Lyngkhoi, Pritam Singh, and others, earning them recognition as Player of the Tournament.
The generosity of the late Ratanlal Singhania’s family in sponsoring prizes and trophies added a poignant touch to the event, with dignitaries like Gideon Kharkongor and Bah Sanborlang Diengdoh gracing the prize distribution ceremony.
These thrilling encounters not only showcased the passion for cricket in Shillong but also highlighted the depth of talent and camaraderie within the local cricketing community.
