Anthrax kills cattle in SWKH village

MAWKYRWAT, Feb 18: Anthrax, a serious infectious disease, has been detected in a village, Shiliang Um Rilang, in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills.
Sources said that following the death of some cattle in some villages in Shiliang Um Rilang area, a blood sample was collected in Pyndenmawramhah village and the same was submitted on February 16, for examination.
According to the letter sent by P Blahwar, Assistant Director (Disease Investigation) Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Shillong to the I/C District AH& Veterinary Officer, South West Khasi Hills District, the blood sample was found positive for Anthrax.
