TMC demands probe into JJM irregularities

SHILLONG, Feb 18: The Opposition TMC on Sunday declared that a comprehensive investigation is necessary to unearth the irregularities in the execution of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the state due to the state government’s persistent denials.
TMC Parliamentary Party leader Mukul Sangma claimed that the government was constantly operating on a denial mode with regards to allegations of shoddy implementation of JJM. “The only way to find out is through a thorough investigation,” Sangma stated.
“Go and check the villages that are supposed to benefit from JJM. Households that were getting uninterrupted water supply before the implementation of JJM don’t have water today,” he claimed.
It may be added that social activists and the BJP, the state government’s ally in the coalition, have on several occasion accused the government of irregularities in the execution of JJM in various parts of the state.
Recently the BJP had stated that it would bring out a charge-sheet against the government highlighting the anomalies in the implementation of JJM.
