SHILLONG, Feb 19: The NPP camp may be in a state of bliss with two sitting KHADC MDCs — Carness Sohshang (Mawkyrwat) and Batskhem Ryntathiang (Mairang) — formally joining the ruling party here on Monday.
Besides the two sitting MDCs, former Sohra MDC Donevan Kharwanlang also joined the NPP at a formal induction ceremony held at the party office here in the presence of NPP national president and Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, party’s state president, Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar besides other party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Conrad acknowledged that the MDCs’ entry into the NPP-fold has strengthened the party.
Stating that this development is going to benefit the party, especially in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he claimed that they have received information from different parts of Khasi-Jaintia Hills that the party candidate for Shillong seat, Ampareen Lyngdoh, is doing very well.
In view of this, he urged the party workers to push through the last mile.
Earlier, the two MDCs, Sohshang and Ryntathiang, had declared the NPP as the only party which can lead the state after their induction.
