SHILLONG, Feb 29: Despite the much-vaunted build-up, there has been no order for shifting of vendors from Laitumkhrah to Veronica Lane.
This was indicated in an affidavit filed by the State in the High Court of Meghalaya.
It also said that no relocation can be done without a proper survey and findings thereon.
It may be recalled that Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh had mooted the idea of making Laitumkhrah main road a hawker-free zone as the plan was to shift the registered hawkers to the footpath of Veronica Lane.
Later, the plan however faced its first hurdle as the residents and stakeholders of the educational institutes in the vicinity of the area have opposed the move.
