CM inaugurates Water Reservoir in SGH

TURA, March 5: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated the Chitmang Chaiwat Multi-Purpose Water Reservoir (RIDF – XXVI NABARD) at Badri Rongdong in South Garo Hills in the presence of Education Minister R A Sangma and Marcuise N Marak Minister in charge of Soil and Water Conservation.
The chief minister expressed his gratitude towards the minister of the Soil & Water Conservation Department, the Director, and the officers of the department for successfully implementing the project. He suggested the need to upgrade the water reservoir area as a park for children and also to transform it into a complete tourist attraction site with food and lodging facilities.
Informing that a similar project has been opened at Mawrah in East Khasi Hills, he assured the creation of many such reservoirs in the future.
Meanwhile, Soil and Water Conservation Minister Marcuise Marak’s suggestion to name the water reservoir park after his late father P A Sangma to commemorate his 8th Death Anniversary was also accepted by the chief minister during the programme.
