Witchcraft case: Police on the lookout for assaulters

SHILLONG, March 17: Police are on the lookout for some persons responsible for inciting a mob which brutally assaulted two men over charges of practicing witchcraft (Menshohnoh) at Mawthlong Mynsain under Sohiong police station on Saturday.
When contacted, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi on Sunday said they have not made any arrest so far.
He further informed that a suo-motu case has been registered.
A mob of around 200-300 people had assaulted the two men identified as Shiningstar Lawrynniang (37) and Isohlong Kharthangmaw (20) over allegations that they were practicing witchcraft. The duo was rescued by SOT along with personnel from Sohiong police station. They were shifted to Sohiong CHC and later referred to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
