Trucker hurt in Ri-Bhoi road mishap

NONGPOH, March 19: A trucker sustained severe injuries in a late-night collision that took place on Monday along the National Highway-6, near Ram Mandir in Nongpoh.
The incident occurred when a truck, identified by registration number ML05Z 9460, collided with the rear of a stationary truck bearing registration NL01G6729.
According to reliable sources, the collision came to pass around 10 pm when the truck, driven by Rajendra Das (28) of 8 Mile Guwahati, was en route Shillong.
Das, reportedly feeling drowsy, had failed to notice the parked vehicle ahead of him.
The impact of the collision left Das with a broken leg, trapping him within the cabin of his vehicle, which was significantly damaged.
Prompt action from local authorities and bystanders facilitated the extraction of Das from the wreckage.
He was swiftly transported to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Currently, police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
