745 students get degrees at 3rd MGU convocation

NONGPOH, March 23: Altogether 745 degrees were conferred on deserving graduates at the 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey and paving the way for future endeavours.
It comprised a total of 59 PhD degrees, 298 Master’s degrees, and 388 Bachelor’s degrees.
The event boasted a distinguished lineup of guests, including chief guest Padma Shri Dr Ilias Ali, along with guests of honour Padma Shri Dr KK Sarma, Dr Debarata Das, and Dr Dinesh Baishya. Presiding over the convocation was the esteemed Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, Dr Rajan Chopra, setting the stage for a day of academic celebration and recognition.
Gracing the occasion were eminent invitees and dignitaries, including SK Gogain Baruah, Dr SP Singh, Dr Shibasish Nath Bhowmik, and Prof Rajendra Prasad Das, each contributing to the convocation’s aura of prestige and distinction. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and lent credence to the achievements being honoured.
Behind the scenes, the success of the convocation was made possible through meticulous planning and dedicated efforts from all quarters.
From the Deans and Heads of Departments to the faculties, teaching, and non-teaching staff, the entire Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya community rallied together to ensure the smooth execution of the event. Their unwavering commitment and professionalism were evident in every aspect of the convocation, from logistics to ceremony protocol. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Registrar Dr Sarika Dixit.
