SHILLONG, March 27: The National People’s Party (NPP) on Wednesday brushed aside all talks of anti-incumbency against sitting Tura Lok Sabha member, Agatha Sangma. The party asserted that her re-election would ensure twice the support the state receives from the central government.
Chief Minister and NPP national president, Conrad K Sangma who was campaigning in Tungruchur village under Mahendraganj constituency for Agatha, posted in his social media handle: “Our incumbent MP Agatha has played a pivotal role in bringing different central schemes to the state. To further the progress and development of our state, it is imperative that we elect her to lead us for the fourth term.”
“I believe that our people will strengthen NPP and ensure that our candidate is elected,” he added.
NPP working president, Marcuise Marak said, “There is no anti-incumbency factor. People are with us and they will be voting for our candidate. We are getting a very good feedback and our opposition have not been able to reach out the people on the ground.”
“People are satisfied with the work the government has been doing and that is why they want to vote for the NPP candidate,” Marak added.
According to him, Agatha’s re-election from Tura will ensure a greater number of projects and developmental works for the state.
