Shillong, March 27: The East Khasi Hills District Athletics Association (EKHDAA), established with the goal of cultivating athletic talent and advancing sporting excellence within the district, is set to revolutionize the athletic landscape. Led by Amir Kharkongor as President and Kyrshanbok Marbaniang as General Secretary, the association is poised to provide a platform for athletes to train, compete, and proudly represent East Khasi Hills.
This pioneering initiative marks a significant milestone as EKHDAA becomes the first Specific Sports Association dedicated to Athletics at the District Level in Meghalaya, officially registered under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act, XII of 1983. Prior to its inception, the management and promotion of athletics at the district level fell under the jurisdiction of the Shillong Sports Association, a Multi Sports Association. However, with the establishment of EKHDAA, the reins of administration and management for the discipline of athletics have been transferred to this dedicated body.
EKHDAA is unwavering in its commitment to fostering local talent by facilitating access to modern training facilities and creating a supportive environment for athletes to sharpen their skills. The association pledges to champion inclusivity and equitable competition across various athletic disciplines, ensuring that aspiring athletes from diverse backgrounds have ample opportunities to excel.
Comprised of members with diverse experiences and expertise in sports administration, coaching, and development, EKHDAA is poised to chart a course for athletic growth at all levels. Through meticulously designed training programs, coaching clinics, and athlete support initiatives, the association aims to lay a robust foundation for sustained athletic development.
Transparency, professionalism, and ethical conduct are the cornerstones of EKHDAA’s operations. Collaborating closely with government bodies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders, the association is committed to identifying and nurturing talented athletes, irrespective of their backgrounds, thus ensuring a level playing field for all.
