TURA, March 28: The Anti-Corruption Foundation of India (ACFI) has urged the PHE department to put a stop on the ongoing construction of a WSS tank under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in West Garo Hills, alleging that the project is not being undertaken as planned by the contractor concerned.
The project in question is being carried out at Kasharipara and Char Kashariara with the proposal for construction of three WSS tanks under the JJM at separate locations.
The organization, however, alleged that all three tanks are being constructed at the existing PHE land at Kasharipara WSS.
A complaint in this regard has also been filed by the organisation with the Superintending Engineer, PHE department, who is also the member secretary of DWSM/JJM.
According to the complaint, repeated requests were made to the contractor concerned to follow the original estimate, which, however, have not been heeded so far.
Pointing out that the said project is a public property and needs to be carried out properly, the organisation urged the concerned official to stop the ongoing construction.
