NONGPOH, March 28: In a spirited endeavour to revive cultural heritage, the Dorbar Raid Nongpoh has assumed the mantle of organising the Shad Sajer Festival, slated for March 30.
This pivotal annual celebration, dormant for over three decades, will once again grace the landscapes of Raid Nongpoh, marking a significant cultural resurgence in the region.
The cancellation of the Shad Sajer Committee’s plans by Elaka Nongpoh prompted the proactive stance of the Dorbar Raid Nongpoh, signaling a renewed commitment to uphold cherished traditions. Lum Wortoh, affectionately known as Lum Kñia, has been abuzz with fervent preparations as leaders and volunteers diligently orchestrate the festival’s revival. From the construction of traditional Ingsad huts to the enhancement of access roads and logistical arrangements, meticulous efforts are underway to ensure a memorable and culturally enriching experience for attendees.
Linus Lyngdoh, the Lyngdoh of Raid Nongpoh, underscored the profound significance of the Shad Sajer Festival as a venerable tradition ingrained in the fabric of Raid Nongpoh’s cultural tapestry. He emphasized that this cherished event serves as an expression of gratitude to the divine for bountiful harvests, while also seeking blessings for the forthcoming agricultural cycle.
Highlighting the historical significance of this revival, Lyngdoh affirmed the unwavering resolve of Raid Nongpoh to overcome obstacles and forge ahead in reinstating a cultural legacy largely forgotten by younger generations. With steadfast determination, the leaders of Raid Nongpoh are steadfastly committed to revitalizing ancestral customs and showcasing the rich heritage of the community.
Furthermore, it was disclosed that neighboring Raids, including Raid Sohkhwai, Raid Nongkhrah, and Raid Nonglyngdoh, will participate in the festivities, presenting a vibrant tapestry of traditional dances, games, and cultural showcases.
In a heartfelt appeal, Linus Lyngdoh and the Dorbar Raid Nongpoh extended a warm invitation to the denizens of Raid Nongpoh and beyond, urging them to partake in this cultural extravaganza. Their presence, they emphasized, would not only bolster the spirits of the organizers but also serve as a testament to the enduring vitality of Raid Nongpoh’s cultural heritage.
