Shillong, March 30: The cricket enthusiasts of East Khasi Hills were treated to an exhilarating display of talent as the 3rd District League T20 Cricket Tournament commenced with fervor.
In the opening match of the day, Cricket Smit CC clashed with Laitjem CC at the vibrant cricket ground. Laitjem CC, after winning the toss, elected to field first. Cricket Smit CC posted a competitive total of 120/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with Elbrenroy Mawthoh shining brightly with a commendable 60 runs off 60 deliveries. However, Manchester Pathaw of Laitjem CC made an impact with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 15 runs in his spell of 4 overs.
In response, Laitjem CC chased down the target with ease, reaching 121/2 in just 17.1 overs. Poilangson Thawmuit led the charge with an impressive knock of 63 runs off 56 balls. Raymond Thabah of Cricket Smit CC managed to pick up a solitary wicket, conceding 30 runs in his 3 overs. As the dust settled, Laitjem CC emerged victorious by 8 wickets, with Poilangson Thawmuit rightfully earning the accolade of Player of the Match for his stellar performance.
In the subsequent encounter, Lumpaia Avengers CC locked horns with Thynroit CC in a thrilling battle. Thynroit CC, having won the toss, opted to bat first but struggled to find momentum, posting a modest total of 75 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 17 overs. Darikupar Warjri was the standout performer for Thynroit CC, contributing 12 runs off 8 deliveries. However, Bryan Mac Millan Marbañiang of Lumpaia Avengers CC wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming 4 crucial wickets for just 14 runs in his spell of 3 overs.
In their chase, Lumpaia Avengers CC showcased resilience and determination, successfully chasing down the target with 9.4 overs to spare. Ralphy Diengdoh played a pivotal role, scoring a brisk 30 runs off 18 balls. Despite a valiant effort from Elbestar Warjri of Thynroit CC, who scalped 2 wickets for 14 runs, Lumpaia Avengers CC emerged victorious by 6 wickets. Bryan Mac Millan Marbañiang’s exceptional bowling performance earned him the deserving title of Player of the Match.
