GNC backs NPP’s Tura candidate

SHILLONG, April 4: The Garo National Council (GNC) has decided to rally behind National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Tura parliamentary constituency, Agatha K. Sangma, during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to a statement, the decision to support Agatha was taken during the GNC’s executive committee meeting in Tura on Tuesday.
“GNC has been a part of NPP-led Executive Committee in GHADC from 2015 till date. Hence, the party has decided to continue to work together with the NPP in the future days too,” the Council said.
During the meeting, the party also constituted a delegation to apprise the state government of the issues surrounding Job Reservation Policy, GHADC matters and appointment of staff in every department of Tura Mini Secretariat.
