SHILLONG, April 4: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla has directed all Deputy Commissioners to promptly release grant aid to those affected by the recent thunderstorm across multiple districts of the state.
Shylla on Thursday emphasised that DCs are empowered to utilise funds and distribute grants to affected families without awaiting the approval of the central government, ensuring swift assistance. He assured that necessary paperwork would follow, and any DC facing funding shortages could seek assistance from the state government.
It may be noted that the thunderstorm impacted several areas including Ri-Bhoi, causing significant damage to MeECL assets.
