NIFT Shillong celebrates graduation of 66 students

SHILLONG, April 4: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Shillong celebrated the graduation ceremony of its 2023 batch at Lariti auditorium, Mawdiangdiang, on Thursday.
In the 11th convocation ceremony, a total of 66 students could toss their caps in the air, of which 47 completed their graduation in Bachelor of Design, while specialising in Accessory Design and Fashion Design streams, while 19 students received their masters in fashion management degree.
The graduation ceremony was graced by Jesmina Zeliang, a renowned cultural entrepreneur known for her contributions to the crafts sector, as the chief guest. In her address, Zeliang emphasised the importance of leveraging talents and resources for positive transformation.
Additionally, Shankar Kumar Jha, Campus Director, extended congratulations to the graduating batch of 2023, comprising 66 graduates from three specialized streams — Accessory Design (AD – 20), Fashion Design (FD – 27), and Fashion Management Studies (FMS – 19). He urged the graduates to uphold the tradition of academic excellence and innovative spirit synonymous with NIFT.
Tanu Kashyap, Director General of NIFT, was also present on the occasion.
Established in June 2008, NIFT Shillong offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, and Master of Fashion Management.
NIFT Shillong, perched on a sprawling 20.13 acres of land provided by the state government, has been a trailblazer in fashion education in the Northeastern region of India.
