SHILLONG, April 7: The Meghalaya Congress on Sunday said it is awaiting the full report of the cash seizure from a vehicle following Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s convoy in Arunachal Pradesh before fixing the blame on anyone.
“I heard about it and saw it in the news. I have to first find out. Let me do my homework. The money is already seized and the election commission has taken charge. I cannot comment on mere hearsay,” MPCC chief and Congress candidate, Vincent H Pala said.
Treading the same path, Leader of Opposition Ronnie V Lyngdoh said, “Unless we get the full report from the Arunachal Pradesh Police I don’t think we can simply blame anyone. It could have been part of the CM’s convoy or not. Let us first find out.”
“Arunachal police must have done the investigation and found the truth. When it is out in the public domain we will be able to comment,” he added.
An amount of Rs 1 crore in cash was seized from an SUV closely following Sangma’s convoy at the Kanubari check post in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on April 4.
