Community sports event commemorates Army’s service

Shillong, April 10: The 119 Territorial Army Infantry Battalion, stationed in Kenches Trace Shillong, marked a significant milestone this year as it celebrated its 75th raising day.
In honor of 75 years of unwavering service to the nation, the battalion joined hands with the Lawsohthun village to organize a sports meet, fostering a sense of community spirit and camaraderie.The event, held to commemorate the battalion’s longstanding dedication to the country, saw enthusiastic participation from members of the community, including a large number of children who eagerly gathered to witness a weapons display organized by the unit.
The Territorial Army, an integral part of the regular army, plays a vital role in relieving the regular army from static duties and aiding civil administration in times of need. Whether dealing with natural calamities or ensuring the maintenance of essential services during times of crisis, the Territorial Army stands ready to serve the nation and safeguard the security and well-being of its citizens.
Additionally, the unit remains prepared to provide support to the regular army as and when required, underscoring its commitment to the nation’s defense and welfare.
