Two-day inter-school athletics meet kicks off at Nongsohphoh

Shillong, April 12: The Cantonment playground in Nongsohphoh, Shillong, was bustling with energy on Friday as the fourth edition of the highly anticipated inter-school athletics meet and march-past commences.
After a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this eagerly awaited sporting extravaganza returns to the heart of Shillong, promising two days of fierce competition and camaraderie.
Organized by the esteemed Gorkha Association, this year’s event spans from April 12 to April 13, 2024, drawing participants and spectators alike from across the region.
With the resumption of this sporting tradition, local schools are seizing the opportunity to showcase their athletic prowess and team spirit.
Thirteen schools have enthusiastically signed up to compete in various track and field events, adding a dynamic flair to the proceedings. As young athletes gear up to put their skills to the test, anticipation fills the air for thrilling displays of speed, strength, and agility.
The grand finale of the event promises to be a memorable affair, with distinguished guests gracing the occasion.
Ayush Maurya, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shillong Cantonment Board, will preside as the esteemed chief guest on the closing day, lending his support to the burgeoning talents on display.
Joining him is Robert Dkhar, Vice President of the Shillong Sports Association, who will grace the event as the esteemed guest of honour.
