SHILLONG, April 14: A total of 43 students have been selected for a free coaching course, which will be provided at Laban Assamese Higher Secondary School.
According to a statement here, the course is an initiative of Meghalaya Together, a community-based organisation, and is aimed at fostering “greater understanding and feeling of oneness between the different communities residing in Meghalaya”.
The three-month-long coaching programme was launched in the presence of members of Meghalaya Together led by general secretary, Vegonia Nongpluh.
“There are a total of four teachers who have experience of conducting coaching classes elsewhere apart from teaching in some of the schools in Shillong. The subjects taught in the programme are English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning,” the statement said.
“This will be the first in the series of free coaching classes that Meghalaya Together is planning for the future as well,” it added.
