Shillong Premier League

Shillong, April 17: Enthusiastic followers of the Shillong Premier League 2023 were met with disappointment today as the highly anticipated clash between Mawlai SC and Nangkiew Irat SC was postponed following a request from the district administration of East Khasi Hills.
The decision to postpone the match stemmed from the bustling activity surrounding Polo Ground, a key venue for the first phase of the general elections scheduled for Friday. Recognizing the importance of facilitating smooth vehicular movement for election-related duties, the district administration advised against hosting the match on this day. In compliance with this advisory, the Shillong Sports Association (SSA) readily acceded to the request, prioritizing the logistical needs of the electoral process.
It’s noteworthy that the SSA had already taken proactive measures by abstaining from scheduling any matches for Thursday or Friday, aligning with the electoral requirements and ensuring minimal disruption to the electoral proceedings.
As the football enthusiasts await the next of SPL 2023 action, the subsequent match is slated for Monday, where Nangkiew Irat SC will square off against Rangdajied United FC at 3:15 PM.
The anticipation for the forthcoming match remains high, promising another thrilling display of footballing prowess in the heart of Shillong.
