SHILLONG, April 18: The IIM Shillong has inaugurated the 12th batch of its postgraduate programme for executives (PGPEx) for the academic year 2024-25 during a programme here.
According to a statement here, the batch comprises students from 15 different states who hail from various sectors including government, private sector, PSU, banks, and start-ups.
The inaugural programme was attended by CHRO, Citibank, Aditya Mittal, as the chief guest and Meghalaya DGP Lajja Ram Bishnoi as the guest of honour.
During the programme,
Director, IIM Shillong, Prof. DP Goyal, welcomed the students of the 12th PGPEx batch.
Addressing the excitement and challenges faced by the participants transitioning from industry to academia after years of professional experience, Goyal underscored the participant-centered learning approach at IIM Shillong.
He said sessions at IIM Shillong are interactive and focus on diverse peer learning, corporate insights, and global perspectives, and emphasised that success depends on the participants’ level of engagement and commitment to learning.
On the other hand, Mittal emphasized the unparalleled opportunities available in India’s burgeoning business landscape, driven by technological advancements and innovation.
He highlighted the importance of building deep relationships during the programme, advising participants to nurture 3-5 lifelong connections.
Mittal also underscored the significance of tenacity, perseverance and the ability to adapt to change as key attributes for success in today’s dynamic world.
Meanwhile, Bishnoi enlightened the participants about the rich culture, traditions and tourism spots in Meghalaya.
He shared insights into the state’s unique heritage and encouraged the students to explore and embrace the cultural diversity of Meghalaya during their time at IIM Shillong.
It may be mentioned that the PGPEx programme at IIM Shillong offers a global curriculum aligned with cutting-edge insights. “The programme includes foundational and functional courses, cross-functional courses, workshops, innovation camps, and participant electives, providing a holistic learning experience tailored to meet the demands of the transnational business landscape,” the statement said.
