SHILLONG, Apr 19: Independent candidate for Shillong parliamentary seat, Lakhon Kma, has accentuated the need for a new line of thought if Meghalaya has to embark on the path of development.
Addressing reporters after casting his vote at the polling station in St. John School on Friday, Kma said that the existing system in the state has failed to usher in overall development.
Contending that there is no dearth of qualified people in the state who can bring to the table new ideas, Kma assured of taking a lead in this regard if the people give him the mandate. “I am happy since I have received good responses wherever I have gone,” he said.
Stating that the NPP-led MDA Government has failed the people of the state, Kma dubbed the former the most corrupt government, which has failed to bring any policies for the benefit of the people of Meghalaya.
Replying to a query, the independent candidate said that he is least bothered about seasoned politicians whether it is the sitting Congress MP Vincent H Pala or Cabinet Minister and NPP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh.
According to him, Pala carries a huge backlog for not delivering in the capacity of an MP for the last 15 years.
Kma then went on to say that the NPP candidate also has her own backlog since people know how she had misused her office as an MLA. “People will need people with a clean image to bring about a positive change,” Kma added.
