SHILLONG, April 19: With the voters having been decided the fate of candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya after Friday’s polling, TMC state president Charles Pyngrope has demanded integrity and commitment from the new Members of Parliament (MPs), whose names will be announced in the results on June 4.
“It is the mandate of the people, and whoever comes to be the choice of the people, they should work honestly for the state with utmost integrity and commitment because prior to the elections, they make a lot of promises but post elections they are not honoured,” said Pyngrope after casting his vote.
Taking about the public’s hopes, Pyngrope, the MLA of Nongthymmai assembly constituency, said the people’s aspirations must be fulfilled by the elected representatives to the best of one’s ability.
On the outcome of the poll in Tura Parliamentary seat, which is being contested by TMC’s candidate Zenith Sangma as well, Pyngrope said it will be a three-cornered contest.
“As the president (of the party), I want our candidate to win. Everybody has done their bid and hopefully, we will be successful,” he added.
