Awareness prog in EKH village

SHILLONG, April 22: Commemorating World Health Day 2024 and the ongoing fortnightly programme in the state, the National Program Climate Change Human Health (NPCCHH), in collaboration with National Health Mission Employees Association of Meghalaya (NEAM), concluded its activities with a themed event titled ‘My Health, My Right’ at Weilyngkut PHC, East Khasi Hills, on Monday. A street meeting held at Weilyngkut market station raised awareness on climate change, air pollution, and heat-related illnesses, featuring talks by State Nodal Officer NPCCHH, Dr Pynkhambor P Lyngdoh, and health experts addressing causes and consequences. The event also included discussions on various health topics, attracting around 400 participants from different schools. A rally from Weilyngkut market station to Nongur-Weilyngkut PHC, which was joined by participants, health workers, and teachers, highlighted community engagement in health advocacy.

Noted social worker dies at 100

SHILLONG, April 22: Noted social worker and a resident of Upper Kenches Traces (Madan Laban), Kshymabati Sarma passed away on Monday morning in Guwahati, Assam, at the age of 100. She leaves behind a son, two daughters and a host of relatives including a number of great grandchildren. Sarma, wife of (Late) Keshab Nath Sarma, was closely associated with several organizations, viz. Laban Assamese Namghar, Assam Club and Assamese Mahila Samity among others.
