SHILLONG, April 23: Voice of the People party’s North Shillong MLA, Adelbert Nongrum on Tuesday slammed the NPP-led MDA Government for delaying the relocation of residents of Them Iew Mawlong.
Nongrum lamented that the state government has been unable to fulfill its commitment of relocating the residents from the area in the last five years.
He said that as the local MLA he is concerned about the unhygienic condition of the locality and the health hazards posed.
He made it clear that Iew Mawlong, which is in the heart of the city, has turned into a slum.
Nongrum also condemned the recent incident at Iewduh where a few residents of the locality created ruckus when they were asked to pay their bills at Saw Aiom Restaurant.
