TURA, April 24: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and the A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) from Phulbari in West Garo Hills have raised the issue of an incomplete construction of a two-km PMGSY road from Shyamnagar to Gopalthan.
It may mentioned that the construction of the road in question had started in 2017. “The road is currently deplorable and not motorable, and we have seen no repairs or maintenance since it (construction) was started. The lack of maintenance is posing grave inconveniences and hardships to the local people, especially the school-going students,” the groups said in a statement.
The two organisations have also urged the concerned department to accord priority to the matter and take necessary steps to facilitate the restart of its construction at the earliest.
