NONGPOH, April 24: In response to escalating security concerns and the need to safeguard government properties, the Ri-Bhoi District Magistrate has issued a directive aimed at fortifying the security measures across various government establishments.
The directive, issued on Wednesday, mandates stringent measures to protect government assets from potential threats posed by malicious elements.
Key instructions outlined in the directive include deployment of night watchmen at all government office buildings, ensuring the availability of fire extinguishers, sand, and water as precautionary measures, and the secure parking of all government vehicles.
Furthermore, district heads and officers have been instructed to maintain vigilance and promptly report any untoward incidents to the Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police, and to contact the Police Control Room at 8730940080 or 9856084514, as well as the helpline number 112.
The issuance of this directive comes in the wake of a fluid law and order situation prevailing in neighbouring East Khasi Hills, which has raised concerns about potential spillover effects, affecting Ri-Bhoi and other adjoining districts.
By implementing these proactive measures, the authorities aim to mitigate risks and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of government operations, while also safeguarding public assets from any potential threats or acts of vandalism.
