SHILLONG, April 26: A day after HYC complaint about power theft by the illegal settlers at the plot of land near the Bara Bazar Fire and Emergency Station, the MeECL on Friday sent an official team for an inspection of the area.
The HYC members were also present during inspection.
The MeECL officials found that there is rampant power theft by the residents of the area. It may be recalled that the HYC has dubbed the residents there as illegal settlers.
MeECL Executive Engineer, Iupher Passah told reporters that they have found rampant power theft in the area, which includes illegal distributions of power from the Ajmera building to the houses of the residents near the Bara Bazar Fire and Emergency Station.
“We have cut and disconnected this line,” Passah said.
