Tura, April 29: In a major breakthrough, police have arrested the mastermind behind the formation of the GNLA-R along with another person from a village in North Garo Hills.
Simon G Momin and another person, Rakban Ch Momin were arrested from Gambil Apal village under Dainadubi PS in North Garo Hills on April 25, following a massive operation by the West Garo Hills police. Momin’s arrest came following the arrests of one, Sengsrang N marak, Thosengcheba A Sangma and Chijang A Sangma earlier in the same case.
Along with arrests police were also able to seize one Samsung Gamexy mobile phone, one Vivo YO1 mobile phone, one Heemax mobile phone and 2 Sim cards.
According to police, Simon G Momin was earlier a member of the A’chik National Liberation Army (ANLA) and he was also associated with the now defunct Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF). He was also arrested earlier in Arms Act cases in West Khasi Hills, East Garo Hills and an extortion/abduction case in South Garo Hills.
