Law-and-order disturbances won’t solve any problems, says Prestone Tynsong
SHILLONG, April 28: The NPP-led MDA Government on Sunday said no solution would be obtained by creating law-and-order problems and invited “disgruntled” groups or individuals to sit across the table and discuss the issues.
“This is not the way of doing things. I would like to appeal people not to cross the limit. We should not take the law into our hands. Whatever issues may be there, we are ready to sit across the table and discuss,” Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home (Police), Prestone Tynsong told The Shillong Times.
“We have already asked the DGP and the investigation is on. Let us see. We are on the job to find out the culprits,” he said, referring to the recent incidents of petrol bomb attacks in the city.
Stating such attacks need to be condemned by everybody, he said, “No solution would be obtained by throwing stone or petrol bombs. I appeal to each and every citizen of the state to refrain from taking the law into their hands.”
The city has already witnessed as many as three petrol bomb attacks in recent times. The first petrol bomb attack was on the Mawlai police station on April 3. On April 24, a petrol bomb was lobbed on the convoy of NEEPCO Director (Personnel) Maj Gen (retired) RK Jha. Another petrol bomb was lobbed at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar at Nongmensong on Friday last.
The spate of attacks have picked up ever since the police started arresting KSU members in connecting with the twin-murder case at Ichamati and the killing of a labourer at Mawroh.
