SHILLONG, April 30: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier on Monday thwarted a cattle-smuggling bid along the Indo-Bangla border in South West Khasi Hills district and rescued 28 cattle.
According to a statement here, the BSF, acting on a tip-off, had intercepted two international border-bound Bolero pick-ups.
Upon inquiry, both the driver and co-driver failed to produce any valid documents regarding the transportation of cattle.
It was after this, the cattle were confiscated, while the four occupants of the vehicles, who were Indian nationals, were apprehended.
The seized cattle and apprehended persons were then handed over to Dangar police outpost for further legal action.
