One arrested with heroin in East Jaintia Hills

Nongpoh, May 1: Meghalaya Police arrested one person after recovering contraband heroin and Nitrazepam tablets from his possession during a checking conducted in a night bus of Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) (ML 03-0216) at  Ratacheera Infiltration Check Post in East Jaintia Hills district at about 10:00 PM on Tuesday.

The arrested person was identified as one Mizazur Rahman Barbhuiya, S/o – Mabasil Ali Barbhuiya, R/o – Kachudaram, Part-II, PS – Sonai, Silchar, Cachar Ddstrict, Assam, according to East Jaintia Hills police.

Police recovered  25 soap cased filled worth heroin worth Rs 2.1 crore, 3720 Nitrazepam tablets and seized one mobile phone from his possession.

An case under their provisions on NDPS Act has been registered and the accused has been detained for further necessary action.
