Shillong, May 1: The U-17 Girls Inter Cluster T20 Cricket Tournament 2024 culminated in a thrilling final between Sohra Super Nova and Mawsynram Pink Panthers. Opting to bat first, Mawsynram Pink Panthers set a target of 72 runs, with Eliza Lyngdoh scoring 17 runs off 19 deliveries.
However, Sohra Super Nova’s Libashisha Khonhngaiñ’s outstanding bowling performance restricted the Pink Panthers to 72 runs in 17.4 overs. In response, Sohra Super Nova fell short, scoring 62 runs in 13.2 overs, with Lapynhunlang Khongngaiñ top-scoring with 13 runs off 22 balls. Despite Eliza Lyngdoh’s remarkable all-around performance, Mawsynram Pink Panthers emerged victorious by 10 runs, with Eliza Lyngdoh earning the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament awards.
In another event, the Benjamin Diengdoh Memorial U-15 Boys Inter Cluster T20 Cricket Tournament 2024 witnessed a fierce final between Sohra Cluster (A) and Mawsynram Cluster. Opting to bat first, Mawsynram Cluster posted 161 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with Nangsan Kynter scoring 73 runs off 31 balls. Bashaikupar Nongdhar’s bowling effort of 2 wickets for 19 runs in 3 overs kept Sohra Cluster (A) in check. In their chase, Sohra Cluster (A) struggled, eventually being bundled out for 75 runs in 12.3 overs, which led Mawsynram Cluster to a commanding victory by 86 runs.
