SHILLONG, May 7: The award-winning and critically acclaimed movie Ka Chithi, by Jaintia filmmaker Simi Khongtiang, had its premiere at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, on Tuesday.
Under the direction of the talented Simi Khongtiang, Ka Chithi has already garnered significant acclaim nationwide. Prior to its Shillong debut, the film clinched the Best Director Award at the Prag Cine Awards and was showcased at esteemed events such as the Bengaluru International Film Festival and the North East International Film Festival in Imphal.
Simi, speaking to The Shillong Times, said, “It is always a special feeling when you are able to showcase your work to the people of your state. I always had my doubts because I never did a formal film course; whatever I know is from whatever I have learnt.”
She also added that the first day of the premiere, the first show did not have many attendees, but the second and the third show had people coming in from all walks of life, and everyone appreciated the film.
There are three shows of the movie, 2 pm, 4:15 pm and 6:30 pm.
The movie is written and directed by Simi Khongtiang, cinematography by Kamki Diengdoh, on-ground sound design by Julius Basaiawmoit, and music scored by August Kurbah.
The film is also set to be premiered and captivate audiences at the upcoming Habitat International Film Festival in New Delhi.
Arts and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh was also present on the first day of the screening and appreciated the movie.
