Edmund Syad has been awarded PhD in Law by North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, for his thesis titled ‘The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012: A Legal Analysis with Reference to the State of Meghalaya’, which he completed under the supervision of Prof Chintamani Rout, Department of Law, NEHU, Shillong. He is the son of Marcel Shilliangam and Helenda Syad, and a resident of Lakadong Village in East Jaintia Hills.
