ED summons J’khand min after massive cash seizure
RANCHI, May 12: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Jharkhand Rural Development Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam for questioning in a money laundering case on May 14.The federal agency had last week arrested Alam’s personal secretary and state administrative service officer Sanjeev Kumar Lal (52) and the latter’s domestic help Jahangir Alam (42) following the seizure of more than Rs 32 crore cash from a flat linked to them.Alam, 70, has been asked to depose at the zonal office of the ED in Ranchi on Tuesday for recording his statement.The money laundering investigation pertains to alleged irregularities and payment of “bribes” in the state rural development department.The total seizure of cash by the ED in this case has been recorded at around Rs 36.75 crore as the agency seized about Rs 3 crore from other locations including Rs 10.05 lakh from Lal’s place apart from Rs 1.5 crore cash from a contractor’s place last Tuesday.Alamgir Alam had distanced himself from the activities of Lal while speaking to reporters after the ED raids, pointing out that he had earlier served with other ministers of the state government too. Pro-Khalistan graffiti found on Delhi metro station pillars
NEW DELHI, May 12: An FIR has been filed after pro-Khalistan graffiti and slogans targeting India and PM Modi were spotted in the national capital on pillars beneath the Karol Bagh and Jhandewalan Metro stations in central Delhi. An official said that steps to remove the graffiti and slogans from the pillar have been initiated while an FIR has been registered in this connection.“We have formed teams to probe the matter. Police teams are scanning CCTV cameras in the area and on the metro stations to identify the culprits and nab them. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered and graffiti and slogans have been removed,”a senior police officer said. It is pertinent to mention that last November after searches in Punjab and Haryana, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a 38-year-old man who had made pro-Khalistan graffiti on the walls of the ISBT flyover in September, for which he was offered money by the banned SFJ founder, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The accused was identified as Malak Singh a.k.a Malik. (IANS)

Four killed as SUV hits two motorcycles
JHABUA, (MP) May 12: Four persons were killed after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) hit two motorcycles in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district, bordering Gujarat, police said on Sunday.The incident took place near Kundanpur village under Ranapur police station limit, some 20 km from the district headquarters, on Saturday night, an official said.Kalu Meda (30), Vasna Damor (65) and Arvind Damor (25) were killed on the spot, while Kamal Meda (37) succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Dahod in Gujarat on Sunday, Ranapur police station in-charge Shankar Singh Raghuvanshi said.The SUV driver fled the scene leaving behind the vehicle, he said.A case has been registered and further investigations are underway, he added.
