TURA, May 15: Organisations from South West Garo Hills on Tuesday night detained a timber-laden vehicle, illegally transporting logs from Kuligaon in the same district, and handed it over to the concerned authorities.
Members of several organisations including the ACHIK, FKJGP, FAF, APA and others intercepted a Mahindra Bolero pick-up (ML 08C 0401), with the illegal consignment of logs.
A further enquiry from the occupants revealed that the timber was being transported without any transit pass.
The vehicle, along with its load, was immediately seized and later handed over to the Forest Range Officer, Mahendraganj, in the same district.
