JOWAI, May 15: The District and Session Court, West Jaintia Hills, recently convicted one Herman Shylla of murdering one Lang Pale on February 17, 2008.
In the judgment, the court also awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to Shylla and imposed a fine of Rs 5000.
The default of payment would lead to another two months of simple imprisonment for Shylla.
The court has also ordered compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the family of the victim.
It may be mentioned that a complaint was filed on February 2, 2008, at Jowai Police Station by one Biktoria Pale, who had accused Herman Shylla, Blingsing Nongkynrih and Ialumlang Sana of murdering her son.
Consequently, the case was investigated and charge-sheeted by SI Birndro Ch. Marak.
However, while pronouncing the judgment, the other two accused were acquitted as there was no evidence that suggested their participation in the homicide.
