SHILLONG, May 19: The KHADC Executive Committee has lauded the NPP-led MDA Government for being prompt in releasing the share of royalty of both major and minerals to the Council.
KHADC Deputy CEM PN Syiem on Sunday said the present government has been better compared to the previous governments in releasing the share of royalty of both major and minor minerals.
Asked if they discussed this matter during the recent meeting with the three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) convened by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, the KHADC Deputy CM said there was no discussion since the government does not delay release of funds due to the council.
In the past, the KHADC had expressed its disappointment over the failure of the government to release the funds on time. During the KHADC budget session held in March, Chief Executive Member, Pyniaid Sing Syiem had stated that the council received an amount of Rs 39.93 crore as share of royalty on minor minerals for the period between April 2023 and March 2024.
