Tribe certificate mandatory for ST certification

Shillong, May 23: The state government has decided to make the Khasi tribe certificate mandatory for applicants to get the Schedule Tribe (ST) certificate within the jurisdiction of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.
Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said the notification to this effect will be out soon. He said they have added the clause which reads: “…One of the items to be furnished would include tribe certificate from a competent authorities for areas under KHADC…”
