K’taka to pay Rs 80 lakh hotel bill of PM’s stay in Mysuru
Bengaluru, May 27: Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre on Monday said the state government will pay the hospitality bill of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had come to Mysuru in April last year to commemorate 50 years of Project Tiger, which runs up to Rs 80 lakh. In a statement, the minister’s office said it is a tradition of the state government to host dignitaries like the Prime Minister and the President when they come. But due to Assembly elections in Karnataka in April last year, the state government was not involved in planning of the programme (Project Tiger) since the MCC was in force. (PTI)

Undertrial hurls slipper at magistrate
Jaipur, May 27: An undertrial prisoner who was taken to a local court for hearing in a case on Monday hurled his slipper at the magistrate inside the courtroom in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, police said. Rasik Mohammad, ASI, City Kotwali police station said Ismail, who is under judicial custody in a case of theft, was taken to the court of additional chief judicial magistrate from jail. “He suddenly took out his slipper and threw it at the magistrate,” Mohammad said, adding that the accused was sent to judicial custody again. Police in row after cop seen at ‘party’ hosted by criminal
Kochi, May 27: The Kerala Police, which has launched a drive against mafia and goons, was left embarrassed after a police official, along with three others, was seen at a party hosted by a criminal at his residence. Deputy Superintendent of Police M.G. Sabu, posted with the Crime Branch at Alappuzha, and three other police officers, were at the house of Thamanem Faizal near here late Sunday evening. (PTI)

Loudspeakers removed from religious places
Indore, May 27: The administration in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has taken down 437 loudspeakers from religious places of different communities in the last two days, while a delegation of the Muslim community objected to the move on Monday. As per the state government’s directions, 437 loudspeakers were removed from 258 religious places of different communities in the city. (PTI)
