One killed in road mishap at Lad Umroi

Nongpoh, June 10: One person was killed and another injured in a road accident involving a 14-wheel truck and a scooty at Lad Umroi near SOS Village Junction inRi Bhoi district of Meghalaya.

The 14-wheel truck (NL01AB 9291), driven by  oneSunil Kumar Jha, s./o B. K Jha r/o Biharbari under Basistha Police Station in Kamrup (M) district of Assam crushed one (L) Tripash Sangma, husband of Tracy Marak of 12th Mile, Jorabat in Ri-Bhoi District who was travelling on a Scooty (AS01EA 7149) along with his son Moncembirth Marak, on the way to Shillong to procure a migration certificate.

However, on reaching the above-mentioned place, the driver of the truck took a sharp turn to the left and the driver of the scooty tried to stop his vehicle but in the process the vehicle slipped and the driver of the scooty was crushed underneath the truck. The pillion rider received injury and was shifted to Umsning CHC for treatment.

Inquest over body was conducted on the spot and the cadaver was shifted to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for Post Mortem examination. Further, the relatives submitted a prayer for PM exemption which was granted by ADM, Nongpoh
