SHILLONG, June 12: The UDP on Wednesday stated that while efforts are on to resolve the pending interstate border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya, both the governments should ensure that recurring skirmishes and unpleasant situations are avoided so that their sincerity in resolving the dispute is reflected in the people’s minds.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh also said that the delay in holding the border talks does not imply that the Meghalaya government is not committed to resolving the dispute with its Assam counterpart.
He lauded the MDA Government for involving the various stakeholders to be a part of the dialogue process and take the matter to its logical end.
