TURA, June 13: The AHAM from Dobu in East Garo Hills has sought an additional doctor at Dobu Primary Health Centre in the district.
The organisation made the request on behalf of residents within the jurisdiction of the said PHC in its letter addressed to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO).
“We are very grateful to the incumbent doctor at the PHC. However, he alone is not able to address all the medical concerns effectively. The lone doctor is primarily occupied with maternity patients, emergency cases and other official duties, which often leaves minor patients unattended, causing significant inconveniences to them,” the AHAM said in the letter.
The organisation also pointed to the large number of patients under the PHC’s jurisdiction, its geographical remoteness, need for quality care and operational efficiency to justify its request.
Condemnation against SWKH rape case
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the AHAM from Rongjeng has condemned the alleged rape of four minor girls in South West Khasi Hills.
“In light of the recent events that have profoundly disturbed our collective conscience, we express our deepest solidarity with the victims, their families, and the steadfast regional members who are in pursuit of justice. Your fortitude in the face of adversity is a testament to the indomitable human spirit,” it said.
Meanwhile, the organisation also urged the authorities to expedite legal proceedings against those responsible for the crime.
