Man kills self demanding quota for Marathas
PUNE, June 19: A 38-year-old man allegedly died by suicide over the Maratha reservation demand in Pune district on Wednesday after conducting a Facebook Live session discussing the sensitive issue of quota allocations, police said.The deceased, Prasad Dethe, was found hanging from an iron bar on a truck in Lonikand area in the early morning. A suicide note was found on his body, a police officer said.In the handwritten note, Dethe advocated for the Maratha community’s inclusion under the OBC category for reservation benefits for which Maratha activist Manoj Jarange has been agitating.The note urged Jarange to continue his agitation until the reservation was secured. It also appealed to prominent political figures such as Pankaja Munde and Chhagan Bhujbal to support Maratha quota rights, the officer added.Before taking the extreme step, Dethe conducted a ‘Facebook live’ session and spoke on the quota issue at length.Dethe worked as a security guard at a private company. He is survived by his wife and three children. (PTI)

Breakthrough in Mumbai ice cream finger case
MUMBAI, June 19: Mumbai Police have identified an employee from an ice cream factory in Pune district whose finger was cut during the manufacturing process, leading to the discovery of human flesh with a nail in a butterscotch ice cream cone which was ordered online by a city-based doctor, officials said.The employee, identified as 24-year-old Omkar Pote from Pune, lost the tip of his finger on May 11 while filling ice cream cones at the Fortune Dairy factory in Indapur.Police have collected Pote’s DNA samples and sent them to the forensic science laboratory, officials said on Wednesday.The incident came to light when a doctor found the human flesh with a nail in an ice cream cone ordered online on June 12.Following the doctor’s complaint, a case was registered against officials of the Yummo ice cream company and the flesh found in the ice cream cone was sent to the forensic science laboratory in Kalina.The investigation led a team from the police to the ice cream factory in Indapur, where they traced Pote. Decomposed bodies recovered from car in stop dam
MORENA, June 19: Four months after a married woman and her brother-in-law eloped, their highly decomposed bodies were recovered from a car that got submerged in a stop dam in Morena district of MP, police said.The car with their bodies was spotted on Tuesday by the residents of a village after the water level of the stop dam receded, they said.According to the police, the deceased woman, identified as Mithlesh (30), and her brother-in-law, Neeraj Sakhwar (34), were in love and left their homes in February.A police team reached the spot after being alerted by villagers, who saw the car in the middle of the stop dam. They found that the highly decomposed bodies were that of a man and a woman.In February this year, Mithlesh’s husband Mukesh Sakhwar had complained that his wife had gone to the market and then eloped with his cousin Neeraj from there.
